Rejecting the Status Quo

None of us plans on being mediocre for God. None of us decides that the dreary, unproductive life that results from being partly committed to Christ and partly committed to ourselves and the world is just the kind of life we always wanted. Yet day after day so many of us settle for just that, a barren life devoid of the joy, power, and anointing of God.

In 2011, the theme for the South Texas District is “Overflow”—we’re rejecting the status quo for a life filled with the abundance of God’s presence and blessings. We could treat the theme as a perfunctory little exercise for our district and say, “Well, we’re supposed to come up with a theme each year; after all we’ve got to put something on the cover of the calendars we mail out to ministers.” Or we could regard it as God’s direction for us this year and something to pursue. I choose to pursue it in the confidence of faith that it is God’s will for our district to receive His overflow.   Continue reading
